KYLE'S BROTHER MIKE RECEIVED HIS MISSION CALL TO
LEEDS, ENGLAND!!!
HE REPORTS TO THE LONDON ENGLAND MTC ON MAY 30TH. =)

1/23/2013 - Montesilvano

Ciao Tutti,

Well this week I'm writing you all from Roma. We had another Zone Conference this week. I got to do my last interview with president until my last day and renew my temple recommend. President told me that for my last transfer it's very likely that I'll be training an Italian which means I'd lose a lot more English and come home sounding like super Mario. haha =) At the conference I also had to bear my parting testimony to everyone, how close I am to the end. My group being so huge, we had about 12 missionaries who had to do it here in Roma. It took about an hour. Usually there's only one or 2 who have to do it. President was able to do a baptismal interview this week also for Maria Luisa who will be baptized on the 2nd of Feb. It's a good week for missionary work.
I think it's really interesting that the missionaries shared the story about John Tanner with you because we shared the same story last Sunday night with a family. But we have a movie of the story too that we use, I don't know if the missionaries back home used it. It's really good. Something interesting too about that is that my ex-companion Anziano Bradshaw is a decedent of John Tanner. Cool stuff huh? Tell dad that when people assume that missionary work in Italy is hard they're right. However we are hard workers so in the end there's a lot of fruit. In fact most missionaries here will see at least 5 or 6 baptisms their whole time here; some as much as 18 or 20. We are a baptizing mission. Elder Jeffery R. Holland told me himself that at the airport when I came here.  He said that they don't send just any missionary to the Rome mission. The apostles know it’s not easy and they want only the best. Pres. Eyring said the same thing to our Mission President when he came here. Hard mission but hard workers, so in the end it equals out.
I forgot to send a whole bunch of Birthday wishes out last week =( please forgive me. SO HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the 2 Kristins and mom. =) Aunt Kristin sent me an email this week. Tell her not to worry and that it's not the end of the world when Obama gets elected. The President of Italy is a billionaire 80 year old guy who has a 30 year old trophy wife and cheats on her with 14 year old prostitutes. At least we haven't come this low in America. We'll get everything back in shape and if not Jesus will come down in the 2nd coming and fix everything himself.
Okay I love and miss you all and I gotta go. Have a great week and be excellent to each other. I hope the car thing gets worked out. I'm on Scott's side. Vi voglio bene.
         Con amore

Ciao Todos amigos mios,

I don't think Mike will have his call already. That’s way too fast. It took me like 3-4 weeks if I remember correctly. Anyways I will make a prediction. I have a strong feeling he would do really well in the Russia Novasiberisk mission. Siberia is a beautiful place and I hear that Russian is one of the most beautiful languages in the world. Okay my companion says he’s coming here to Roma and that he will train him. There are two other missionaries here too. Anziano Esplin says Japan and Anziano Bird says Germany. We'll see what happens. I have some pictures I want to send you this week but we are at a weird ghetto internet point and I’m writing you on an IBM from like 20 years ago that doesn't even have USB ports but if I figure something out I'll try and get them to you. I hope you win some money mom on your game show, I don't remember that show at all but if you can make some cash an Audi R8 shouldn't be too out of our budget right? I saw a black one this morning! =)
No baptisms this week =( but they are coming don't worry. People just need a little more time than we thought. No need to worry. We will reschedule the baptismal dates by the end of this week and toward the end of January, start of February we should have quite a few. I did an exchange last week with a newer missionary Anziano Jones. We went to a members house and had dinner and a lesson. He's super timid, poor kid and said maybe 5 words the whole 3 hours we were there. So I had to do everything, in the end though it wasn't too bad because I got super tight with the whole family and they love me. They have two 16 year old twins who look like Anakin Skywalker and an inactive daughter who I was able to help a lot. The members here are starting to like me, especially the young adults and youth. A member told me last Sunday that I was the most "simpatico" (not sure how to translate that word, it means many things nice, funny, likable, attractive personality) missionary they've ever had here. I told them that it’s just because I'm Californian and we are more fun than the average Utah missionaries, haha. Italians think we are all crazy that we go to the ocean in California because they are CONVINCED it's full of sharks haha. I have to explain to EVERYONE that there aren't any sharks and it only happens every 20 years or so someone gets attacked in California. They think Jaws was a documentary instead of a film haha.
Well I'm gonna scapare here. Let me know SUBITO if Mike gets his call. Me and Anziano Alessandro are having a most excellent time here in Pescara. I miss and love you all. Vi voglio bene,
                   Con Amore,

Ciao Tutti,

Well those pictures are quite interesting. Bummer about the Civic. (Scott was in a car accident) It was born and died before I even got the chance to see it. Even though the guy didn't have a license did he have some sort of insurance? Glad to see you guys are all having fun back home though. I miss our New Year’s Christmas Tree burning festival. I don't remember how that got started. I just remember 3 years ago or so burning all of dad’s old law documents in Cali City.
This Monday was a great day for me because I finally got my hands on all my Christmas gifts from you guys =) I opened all of it there with my whole district. YOU GUYS WENT ALL OUT! The scripture gift thing was too funny. We had a good laugh and my companion is in love with all the American goodies he got. I still gotta hang up all the letters and pictures from my cousins and siblings. When I do I'll take a picture and send it. Best Christmas gift ever!! I really thank you guys for the effort put into that. Today I spent a little bit of Christmas gift money. I bought a suit and some nice shirts. Everything here is on sale right now so it only cost me about 75 Euros for everything. I might buy another suit later this evening if time permits. I bought it all on the credit card because I know that gets you points or something good like that so when you get the balance sheet just take the charge spent on the credit card and pull the money from my checking account. I would like to know my balance too next week if you could get me that it would be most appreciated =)
As for missionary work this week we lost all our baptisms we were supposed to have this week =) but alas! no need to worry because it wasn't anything to crazy, it's just our investigators went out of town and they want time to "reflect, read the Book of Mormon, and Pray" on their own. I don't see anything wrong with that and if they are sincere I'm sure the big man upstairs will take care of everything. Going into Feb. we could see a good 4 baptisms here in Pescara. We are really doing an amazing work here. Things are going really well. I'm gonna have a good final few transfers here. My old companion, Anziano Anderson, got sent off to Malta for his last 2 transfers in the mission, that was a surprise. That’s a fun place to finish I would think.
Well I hope you are all having a great week and I miss and love you all. Thank you again for all the gifts and thoughts for Christmas. You guys are amazing. Vi voglio troppo bene!

Ciao Tutti,

Well no one decided to write me an email this week, rough. Well I guess I won't write you guys much either. This week is going well and we should have a couple baptisms this coming Saturday on the 12th. It was nice to talk to you all last Wednesday and see your faces. Hope you are all doing well and curious as to what you are up to over the holidays. Here in Pescara for two days strait there was a firework show in the streets for New Years. It seemed like a war zone with explosions going on everywhere all night. I made "lasagne fatto a mano" for me and my companion. Basically  it is homemade lasagna where you even make the pasta by hand with flour and eggs. I'll make you some when I get home.
Well that’s about it for today. Have a great week everyone and I miss and love you all. Vi voglio bene.

Con amore,    Anziano Kyle Hill

Ciao Tutti,

Hello, wow there was a ton of information in that email mom. First of all is the fact that the future Sorella Rost just got called to the coolest mission in the world. She'll be coming in with a new mission president though. I think President Kelly finishes in June. I can't believe Mike will probably already have his call before I get home. Something I never expected. You have no idea how much jealous rage is burning in me right now of the fact Mike’s vision actually got all better. Mine has gotten worse I think. I feel like a blind person sometimes. I realized that if I lived 2000 years ago I'd be one of those poor blind beggars that you read about in the Bible because I wouldn't be able to see ANYTHING. I wouldn't mind just getting that dang laser thing done that dad did so I don't ever have to worry about it again..
This week we were able to throw down two baptismal dates with Enrika and Maria Luisa. Enrika we met with this morning with our Vescovo and had a really great lesson, she's really stressed and is going through a bunch of personal problems right now. She asked me to give her a blessing at the end of the lesson. She really loves the church and I think she will be a great addition to our ward here. She was found by my companion last transfer doing door to door (IT WORKS) =) Then Maria Luisa is the Sister in law of our ward mission leader and daughter of the Vescovo in Messina who has waited his whole life to finally see his daughter get baptized so it's pretty exciting.
We get transfer calls this Saturday =( time is FLYING. When I call you it will probably be a really trunky moment because we gotta plan stuff and what not for when I get home but don't worry, I won't let it distract me too much, just be ready. And be ready for me to speak really bad English or forget words from time to time because I've found it recently a lot easier for me to express myself in italiano other than English. That’s what happens when you serve with companions who don't know any English other than things they learned on Xbox Live like "headshot" or "pwnd" or a lot of vulgar things that I always seem to be telling them not to say because they are bad words.
Okay so I got some letters this week including a post card thingy from the Carpenters. The letters are in the office and I was supposed to get them this Saturday during a scambi but it got cancelled so I may not get them till after Christmas =( sorry. I got a letter from my sister and Scotty and a card from grandma. I know I need to write people so I will get on it. I miss and love you all. Have a great Christmas week and see you next week =) Vi voglio bene

Ciao tutti,

Well you had a ton of questions in your email mom so I’m just gonna go off answering all of them right now. As for Aunt Kristin's padded envelopes nothing yet, they are probably in the office and I will get them towards the end of this week. I have only gotten two letters to my new address, an awesome post card from Uncle Gordon and a letter from my sister. Make sure when you the address you put MONTESILVANO in nice big letters and maybe instead of writing "Pescara" just put a "PE" okay because there is a via verrotti in Pescara too and that is not my address because I live in montesilvano. I go to Rome every once and a while and I get stuff from there when we do scambis and what not. S.lla Sobeck is in my zone and I saw her at zone conference and was sure to tell her that my mom stalks her on her blog =) haha. My companionship is going well. Anziano Alessandro is really easy to make fun of and he takes a joke real well so we have one of those love hate relationships. =) We have good fun. Pescara is nice and we have an awesome ward here. The only problem is it's freezing here and it actually snowed Sunday morning. We were in L’Aquila Thursday and got to play in the snow. Me and Anziano Bradshaw staked out and destroyed our companions with snowballs during the scambi.
We should have a couple baptisms coming up in January. We plan on setting a couple dates this week with two investigators who are progressing a lot. One of them is a woman who every time she opens the book of Mormon to look for answers she always finds it in the first verse she reads. The other is the step sister of our ward mission leader. Work here is awesome. The other day we had an FHE at the home of a new convert family. They are Napoletani so we ate super good pizzas and a 1 kilo ball of Mozzerella di Buffala, man that stuff is so good.
Well I sent some fotos from this week for you to enjoy =) I loved all the fotos from you guys I miss all those little cousins. Have a great week and I miss you all! Vi voglio bene!

12/5/2012 - Pescara, Italy

Ciao Tutti,

Okay, so another week, another email =) lucky you guys. We had zone conference yesterday so I'm still in Roma. We stayed the night with the assistants and Roma 2 Anziani at their apartment the last two nights. We have too much fun together because we all know each other way well and are really good friends. To address some concerns, yes there was a tornado in Taranto last week and it did destroy a lot of stuff. But the main victim was the big evil factory that gives everyone in Taranto cancer, about time God decided to take it down. It was a P-day and me and my companion were walking around and saw a T.V. hung up at a store and the news was playing. It said Taranto so I got excited and looked for a second. Then we say the giant tornado and everything and I kinda flipped out a sec. I called Anziano Visintin though down there and asked is they were okay. In the end everyone was fine but the house of the State Anziani was destroyed. All the windows busted out and everything. The State Anziani were in Taranto though at my old apartment though so they got lucky. That’s about where that story ends.
I enjoy hearing you all talk about the Christmas choir and program for that. I am totally doing it next year if I'm home. It was one of favorite experiences before the mission. I really love singing, especially Christmas stuff. Even more so, Christmas stuff in italiano. It’s the perfect language for singing I think because all the words rhyme because they all end in an "i,a,o" or "e". It’s getting pretty stinking cold here again and I may have snow fotos for you guys again this year. Lucky me =P
No mail or anything yet. I did get some letters from the office yesterday though. It's nice being so close to Roma. I'll keep my eye out though for your letters. As for Christmas calls we are thinking about doing them the Wednesday after Christmas because that is P-day and Christmas we are eating at members homes all day so we are kinda busy. We'll try and aim to do it in the evening when you guys are all awake that morning. I did get a haircut like 3 weeks ago so no worries and I am loving Pescara. We had a baptism last Saturday and should have a couple more this month =) Things are going REALLY WELL. I have never seen better work my whole mission. The members here take good care of us.
Well, I miss and love you all. I will have pictures next week because I left my cord to connect my camera in Pescara =P FAIL. Have a great week everyone and happy Dicembre!! Vi voglio bene ASSAI!!!
